The Presets Announce The Release Of Their New Album “Hi Viz”

Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes also known as The Presets present their new album Hi Viz that is set to release on May 18th via Casablanca Records. Hi Viz is a representation of both Julian and Kim’s talents since they both intertwined their production skills into it.

The party album is a bundle of rave nuggets, cyber coons, and pub techno seamlessly mixed across 53 minutes.

Born in 2003, the duo began by leaving imprints in Sydney’s nightclubs and later signing onto the famed Australian music label Modular Records. In 2008, things begin to escalate soon after The Presets released their second album Apocalypso with breakthrough tracks like ”My People,” ”Talk Like That,” and “This Boys In Love.” Apocalypso debuted winning six awards at ARIA Awards including Album of the Year and number one on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Their electrifying sweet take of what is delivered by The Presets results in getting the support and likes from top-tiered artists like Daft Punk and keeping busy performing at festivals including Coachella, CRSSD Fest, Glastonbury Festival, and Splendour in The Grass.

The Presets have already given us a sneak peek into what Hi Viz will convey. Featured in Triple J’s Hottest 100 songs in 2017, “Do What You Want” was the first to drop as a teaser.  Second release sweeping in is “14U+14ME” that also became one of the most played tracks in 2018.

Words from The Presets on Hi Viz:
“We wanted to make something that was literally meant to get you out of your head”, explains Julian Hamilton. “All the songs on HI VIZ are outward looking so in that respect it’s much more like our earlier stuff. It’s about trying to capture that energy you get on a great night out with your friends when you get to leave everything else behind you for a while. We essentially tried to create the soundtrack to a party that we would want to go nuts at.”
“It’s taken us ages to make this album because we just kept writing and recording more and more songs”, reflects Kim Moyes. “At one point we had about 50 contenders and, like us, they were all over the map mood wise. Eventually, we decided – fuck it – let’s just pick the most ‘up for it’ songs. Those tracks are always the most fun for us to play live anyway so we thought “why not have a whole album of them?”.- The Presets

Watch ”Do What You Want” official music video by The Presets:

The Presets both took a part in producing Hi Viz alongside with fellow collaborators to make the masterpiece. The album features indie rockers the DMA’s with ”Are You Here” co-produced by Kim and vocals from Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters for ”Tools Down.” Most of the album was mixed by John Hanes who created the classic mix of Uptown Funk as well as working more recently with the likes of Sia, Bruno Mars, and Major LazerApocalypso collaborator Scott Horscroft also mixed several Hi Viz tracks while Flume engineer Eric J mixed Beethoven – the pair’s sly nod to their Conservatorium years.

In totality, the new album is a creation of what The Presets are mostly known for. With trippy and visual music videos to go along with it, Hi Viz is an overwhelming cocktail party with funk and an electrifying groove.
